one of the many reasons...

I decided to become a hairdresser.

The Adventures of Emikel and Jro...and Oli.

A long time ago, in a state not quite so far away, three young teenagers were being driven to Rochester, New York for a Onething Conference. The result of having imaginations and a whole lot of free time resulted in parody song writing, and sing-a-long videos, such as this one.

the adventures of Emikel and Jro

Prepare yourselves....
ready?
...
ok
...
Wednesday afternoon. Pizza Hut. Fairmont, West Virginia. Mountain Dew. Cameras.
Need I say more?

:|: By Any Other Name :|:

I have a thing about names. Names give people their identities, often in more ways than just a title. My siblings and I were all given our names because of their meanings(not because my parents had a thing for the vowels E and O), though my siblings at least had their names planned out before they were born, me...not so much.
My parents decided to wait until my birth to find out whether I was a girl or a boy, they wanted to be surprised, but my mother was sure that I would be a boy and that I would be named Oliver. Well, the time came - a little earlier than expected, but it came nevertheless - and there I was. A tiny 6 or 7lbs. baby with a very full head of thick soft black hair....a girl...
oops.

Well, names were tossed around quickly, and with the help of my grandma Frost I was to be Emily Michael Hewett.

Emily:
Gender: Feminine
Usage:
English
Pronounced: EM-ə-lee
[key]
English feminine form of Aemilius (see EMIL). In the English-speaking world it was not common until after the German House of Hanover came to the British throne in the 18th century; the princess Amelia Sophia (1711-1786) was commonly known as Emily in English, even though Amelia is an unrelated name.
Industrious one, or Diligent worker.
[Then there's the Urban dictionary meaning http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=emily ...those can be sketchy but fun]
"The mos beautiful person in the world. Often referred to as a Goddess. Has eyes that one can easily get lost in. A great friend that cares about people and makes the world a better place. Easy to love too."

Michael:
Gender: Masculine
Usage:
English, German, Czech, Biblical, Biblical Latin
Pronounced: MIE-kəl (English), MI-khah-el (German)
[key]
From the Hebrew name
מִיכָאֵל (Mikha'el) meaning "who is like God?". This is a rhetorical question, implying no person is like God.
Who is like God, and Esteemed one.
[UD: "the coolest motherflippin name on the planet. Many stupid people say that it is a boring and lame name, but that is not so. Many of the coolest people in the world have that name." http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=michael]

I've since been told that my personality has grown to become my namesake, that is, my personality matches what my names mean. I've also become interested in names in general. Names are cool. So drop me some comments. Tell me your names...
...and the stories behind them :)

Birthday visit and Katie notebooks

So I popped over to my best friends house today. Tomorrow is her b-day, but I'm not home AT ALL tomorrow so we celebrated today.
We sat down and had grilled cheeses and coffee. No cake, cause she hates anything that has to do with cake - unless its prefix is 'cheese'.
Both our coffee mugs were so large that filling them with the normal sized, single serving of the caffinated beverage left 2/3-3/4 of the cups empty. Just feeding the addiction. ;)
Afterwards we hung out in her awesome, newly-finished room and made what she calls "Katie notebooks"(cardboard mod-podged with random clippings, hole punched, filled with paper, and held together with metal rings that people normally put index cards on) all-in-all a lovely afternoon.

Hair...what else is new?

Last Saturday my sister and I reached a mile-pebble. She let me TOUCH HER HEAD! What did I do? Look below:

Half way

All done!
Now we move to the fun of updos...

This is what happens when one has lots of pomade and not enough humor in their days...

And this is what happens when you get serious.

4. 8. 15. 16. 23. 42

Tonight marks the start of worldwide awesomeness. Yep, tonight the final season of lost premiers. One of the best, most addicting, intricate tv shows in the history of...well, tv.

LOST

That's right, I'm a LOST fan. I've been hooked since I watched the first minute of the pilot 6 years ago. There's no way I could explain the chaos of this sci-fi series that is LOST, you would be better off just renting the series. There are so many twists, so many conspiracies, so many intertwined backstories! I LOVE IT!
If ever I were a nerd of something, this...would be it. I know, it's sad, but as I sit here in my comfy, overstuffed chair watching the annual "let's review all that's happened in the past however-many-seasons before we start this new one" I realize that I'm ok with that.

Now if you excuse me, I need to go watch my show. They promised me answes to the questions I've been asking for the past 5 years.
